This trip I flew to Richmond, VA to buy a Honda Pacific Coast.
I wanted the owner to transfer the title and get me temp plates. He seemed to think that a letterhead bill of sale would work. He was a Campus Rent a cop at Martha Washington College. The bike seemed OK so I was off. Soon I realized that the windshild was too tall a quite opaque. I ended up cutting it off in St. Louis. A Missouri state cop fell in behind me north of St. Louis. When I stopped to put on my rain gear he stopped and got out of the cruiser. Looking at the VA plates he commented., "Long way from home". I agree. He asks, "Where you headed?" I say, "Montana" He asks, "Trouble?" I say, "No, just getting on the rain gear" He never asks for my paperwork, follws me for about 4 miles, turns on the lights and I figure this is it. Then he pulls a U and races off.

I named the bike the Rainmaker, it rained on me from VA to WY. And when I holed up in Canton, SD the TV said there were 7 tornados in Iowa that day. I rode from the SE corner to the NW corner. And my next trip to British Columbia was rained out. I ended up riding to LA and sold it.

MDTurley > I was studing the map trying to figure out how to avoid a toll road when a couple of riders had me follow them to the New River Bridge area. Awesome.
MDTurley > New River Bridge
MDTurley > New River rafters - this is just below the brige. It is shut down once a year for Bungee jumping.
MDTurley > Largest single span arch bridge - built in 1971 I think.
